Jacy Thibert - Graduate of 2008

Jacy Thibert
I remember, about five years ago, my mother saying, "Jacy, how would you like to be in a Children's Choir?!" I replied, "Why would I do that, ma?" But low and behold, a reluctant, shy, nervous little girl walked into that room to sing for complete strangers. One of these people happened to be my mentor and inspiration, Mrs. Melanie Popejoy. She continues to teach me about music, but also about life. A while later, I found out I had made it into a group called "Accordo Voce." 2 years of that, 1 year of Carino, and 2 years of Primo, with both Mrs. Popejoy and Mrs. Mercer, have found me at the end of my years singing with GCCC. It will, however, always hold a special place in my heart. Growing up, it was one of the few places I felt where I belonged and that I was with people who understood me, with the people who shared my love of music. It has helped me develop not only as a singer, but as a person. I loved every song we sang and I loved every rehearsal. I couldn't pick one favorite memory, because there are just too many to choose from. My advice to upcoming choir kids is to focus, work hard, make friends with the piano players because they are the coolest people you will ever meet, and most of all, enjoy it with all your heart because it goes fast.
